JUNE 6th 7th & 8th
GLENWOOD RALLYE
Again this year, the Glenwood Rallye was great. Anne and I drove our Corvette and towed the TC on its trailer. We drove the rallye for the first time this year. It was fun and challenging. Of course we did not win anything, but we did it. We planned to meet at a hamburger place on Friday evening which was fun, even if it was just my family and Jack Kahler. Jack is an interesting and entertaining guy. Saturday morning we were supposed to have a breakfast together, but no one showed up except Anne and I so we went back to our hotel and had the free breakfast. Maybe next year! I did not want to drive the TC on the Tour so Saturday we drove around some and ran into Dave Crosby (MG-TD) and his wife and Jim Goodwin and Laura (MGA). We all took a short drive then Jim Laura and I drove to Carbondale where we "CRASHED" a car show. We really did! I was following Jim and we went down an alley and found a couple of parking places on the street IN the Car Show and just parked. No one noticed so we got out and walked around for a while. Below you will see a few pictures that I took there. Saturday afternoon for me was at the Hot Springs Pool. The banquet on Saturday night was nice, the food was good and the program was interesting. On Sunday morning there was the usual Car Show at the park. The feature car this year was the 1936 MG-SA owned by our own Tom Cox. This is one stunningly beautiful car! After the Car show one of the Triumph drivers (Silvio DeBartolomeis) was having a problem with his car so I volunteered to trailer it back to Denver for him. We got the car loaded and Paul Dierschow fixed it on the trailer so we unloaded it. Silvio then drove it home without a problem. On the trip home we followed Dave (go fast) Crosby and his wife back to Denver. Believe it or not we ran most of I-70 at 70+ MPH! I was impressed! Of course Dave's car is beautifully restored. That's about it, here are some (196 to be exact) pictures.
I would like to thank Dave Crosby, Scott Folsom, LaVerne Downey, and everyone else who contributed the following pictures (I took some of them.)
Bud Silvers
Laverne Downey leaving home in Fruita, Colorado.
Laverne deserves a great deal of credit here. Driving to Glenwood (via Denver) was a mess.
Look at these pictures.
Fruita to Denver for the start of the Rallye! Then back to Glenwood!
That, my friends, is dedication!
THE TOUR!
OK! Anne and I cheated! At least the Corvette is a Tow Car/"Sports" Car!
Well at least some people consider it a "Sports" Car.
Believe it or not, the Corvette gets about the same MPG pulling the MG as the MG gets on its own.
