AUGUST 8th to 10th
TOM COX HOSTED
THE RETURN OF THE MINI GOF
What a great weekend it was!
Anne and I have started a Christmas Project for our Grandchildren. I believe it is called "Flat Stanley".
Anne created "Flat" Clem, Michael, Luke, and Julia. They are made from fabric with their pictures ironed on and hand drawn clothing. We take them with us wherever we go and take pictures. Anne has created a scrap book for each of our grandchildren and we plan to give it to them for Christmas. These pictures are of us leaving home for the GOF in Winter Park.
We all converged on the Iron Horse Resort in Winter Park:
I took this sequence of Bill Bollendonk unloading his TA in the Iron Horse Parking Lot. His car transport is a great piece of machinery and engineering. Bill has it all down pat!
On Friday evening we had a very nice Cocktail Party on the Deck of the Iron Horse Resort. Tom and Suzann laid out a great spread. I understand that Suzann was responsible for many of the hor dourves, and they were great. We all probably ate too much. I know I did!
On Saturday morning it was off to Grand Lake. To get there we took a scenic tour and stopped at a Country Club for breakfast.
Parking at Grand Lake was difficult to find, but we all got
there OK and found a place to park.
Some of us took in the boat ride, others just wandered around shopping. It was a great time for all.
There was a beautiful wooden boat tied up at the dock. Wow!
As the boat ride was coming to an end Jeanne Bollendonk lost her hat in the lake, which meant that Captain Jack and crew had to perform the "Great Hat Rescue!" It was a bit harrowing and starting to rain, but all ended well. The hat was wet, but not lost!
What? A Hat overboard? Captain Jack and crew to the rescue!
As with all car clubs, the Rocky Mountain MG T-Register travels on it's stomach! Saturday evening we had a wonderful meal at Grand Lake.
Sunday morning we all met for breakfast in Winter Park. After a great meal some of us toured a flea market, then loaded up and headed for home.
As I said, IT WAS A GREAT WEEKEND!
LET'S DO IT AGAIN!
THANK YOU TOM AND SUZANN!
